Cruising up to Kruse Auto Museum and Family Rec Center

Tim is co-authoring today's activities (I went back to my classroom) because he accompanied Vanya on the field trip and day camp.

Very quietly, please say "hallelujah!" Don't say it loudly and jinx it, but Vanya has NOT been carsick since Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hallelujah, Hallelujah, HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really hoped you whispered, because if he gets carsick tomorrow, I am blaming you!

Apparently, Vanya wasn't too excited for his English lesson on colors and clothes. He did perk up a bit when it was gym time. He didn't stray too far from Tim while they played with a huge bouncing ball. For the craft time, they made the timeless art project, sand art. Tim indicated that he was very careful with the stick used to make the design. He was very proud of his work and couldn't wait to show them to me when I got home. During snack time he experienced Jello squares. Cherry and orange were met with approval, grape was not.

For today's field trip Vanya had to endure another car ride to a Car and World War II museum just north of town. Like a typical kid, some of it caught his interest and much of it did not. He especially liked the Batmobile. He's been coloring in a Batman book, so this was pretty exciting. The museum owners showered the kids with gifts. Vanya received 2 small backpacks filled with small cars and planes as well as a large die-cast Hummer. All well received!

After the museum, the group traveled a short distance to the museum owner's Family Recreation Center. Here the kids went swimming and got to play arcade games. Vanya was very cautious in the water and wasn't interested in going out too far. He did have on a life jacket, but I'm not sure he understood its purpose. We were told that most Ukrainian kids SAY they can swim, but they can't, so we were a little relieved that Vanya didn't just barrel into the water. Cautious is good! The arcade was a hit. He played motorcycle racing, WW II flying , snowmobile racing, and air hockey games with Tim. The place sounds amazing-- 15-20 arcade games, an indoor tennis court, indoor pool, basketball court, trampoline, sauna, and big screen TV's. Sign me up!

While Tim was making dinner, Vanya and I went to the Starfall.com website again, and he finished the rest of the alphabet after dinner. Tonight's menu was taco's and Vanya agreed they were quite yummy-- he had 2 of them! We had time for some scooter practicing and then it was time to call it a day. Showers for Vanya are like Indiana Jones movies for Tim-- wonderful and magical! He loves to take a shower! Tim said he must be my son because he enjoys very long showers. I don't think hot water is plentiful in the Ukraine, so he must be taking advantage of it now while he can. When we asked him if he was ready for his shower, he yelled with exuberance and unabashed joy, "DA!!!!!!!!!!!!" Seriously, you'd think he won the lottery!

Tomorrow is the zoo, and Friday is Science Central. Stay tuned to this Bat time and this Bat channel for more in the life of Vanya in Fort Fun, Indiana!
