The Adoption Adventure officially begins!
So, even though it took 2 years for us to begin this adventure, it's official! We received word on Friday that the Ukrainian Embassy has approved the visas for a group of children to come to America for a vacation. Around July 28th, these children will arrive in Fort Wayne. One of these children will be a 9-year old named Ivan. He will be staying in our home for 3 weeks, attending a camp during the day, and hanging out with us in the evenings and weekends. At the end of the 3 weeks, he will return to the Ukraine, and if all goes well, we will start the paperwork extravaganza to officially adopt him. The "Double Deckers" could soon be the "Triple Deckers!"I will try hard to keep you updated on our progress. However, this is not a guarantee as I will be starting my second year as a 1st grade teacher as well as a wedding planner for our church, and Tim will begin his 20th year as a high school government and psychology teacher as well as his 13th year in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Being the proud "parents" of a 3-1/2 year old Welsh Terrier dog does guarantee there's never a dull moment in the Decker Household!Stayed tuned as we begin this exciting adventure. We appreciate all the support and prayers!Below are the pictures we've received of Ivan-- is he cute, or what???

Woo hoo! You ARE officially cool like us with your blog. :)
It's nice to see Ivan on screen rather than on copy paper. :)
Carson is still a go for a play date when Ivan gets here!
Tim, Kathy and Ivan:
We love the blog, keep it coming. The name Ivan means "Gift of God" in Russia or "God has Mercy" in the Ukraine. Enough said, all three of you are truly fortunate to have found each other. Ivan is quite a hit here in Green Bay. You'll have to visit when you can. We're following the story. Good luck and may this process go quickly for you.
